Hidden and Invisible Disabilities
DTC may cover a wide range of hidden and invisible disabilities, including:
- Chronic Pain ( Due to Arthritis, MVA, Work injury, Cancer, Surgeries)
- Mental illness ( Depression, Anxiety, Sleep disorder, PTDS),
- Urinary Tract Disorders ( Chronic Blabbder Infection, Urinary Stress Incontinence, Overactive Bladder, Benign Prostate Hypertrophy).
- Learning Disorders, Brain injuries, Concussion.
- Gastro-Intestinal disorders ( Bariatric Surgery, Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative colitis, Stomach acid Reflex, Irritable Bowel Disease )

Do You Know
The DTC eligibility depends on the medical condition’s effect rather than just the diagnosis. The person may not be eligible for the DTC until many years after the actual date of diagnosis.

How will I receive my Disability Tax Credit refund?
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will either deposit your disability tax credit refund directly into your bank account, or mail you a physical cheque.
How long does it take to get my Disability Tax Credit?
Most of our clients receive a determination on their application in less than 120 days after submitting the file.
Can I start a case on behalf of a family member?
Yes, and if the family member ( Son, Daughter, Sister, Brother, or Parent ) with the disability does not have sufficient income to qualify for the DTC refund, then you can claim the credit on his behalf if you help him/her with FOOD, SHELTER and CLOTHING.

- Do you have severe trouble with any of these activities of daily living: Walking, Vision, Speaking, Hearing, Elimination, Feeding, Dressing, and Mental functions or you need Life-sustaining Therapy such as dialysis or using Insulin?
- How long have you had this impairment?
- Do you have a Family Physician who can certify and provide supportive medical records?
Financial
- Have you been paying your Income Tax since you had your disability?
- How much of the total tax have you paid? ( check Line 435 on your Notice of Assessment for each year)
- Have you carried a Debt with the CRA for the outstanding unpaid income tax , student Loan debt, outstanding spouse support payment or outstanding child benefit payment?
- Have you ever filed Bankruptcy?
